With most in the country experiencing the Polar Vortex and FREEZEing temperatures. Have any of you been experiencing the 'frost quakes?'
What is a frost quake? Wikipedia describes it like this: Frost or Ice quakes are commonly known as a cryoseism. Cryoseism is a seismic event that may be caused by a sudden cracking action in frozen soil or rock saturated with water or ice. Water draining in to the ground may eventually freeze and expand under colder temperatures, causing stress on its suroundings. The stress eventually will build up and release resulting in loud booms or cracking sounds. They are harmless so no reason to be alarmed.
(Be sure you budle up with the conditions outside your home if you want to check out your surroundings.)
