Although the age range for this product is noted for ages 4-13, I will honestly say, after 20+ years of experience behind me working with various age ranges of children - both in and around the church and of my own family, I would not be surprised if some of the older kids would like this hands on fun as well. You can use this as a game or object lesson within the church in your children's ministry or group.
I know a lot of church leaders that do not like the use of eggs during their Easter lessons, mainly because it mixes the true meaning of Easter from the Resurrection of Christ with the Secular meaning of the Easter Bunny and eggs. To those I must note: Egglo Entertainment is by far different then doing an ordinary Easter Egg Hunt. For one thing your not hunting eggs that a make-belief bunny left you, full of candy. No! Your hunting glow in the dark eggs that represent the light of Christ and are full of Gods Word. *LOVE, LOVE* this idea. You can use this material most anywhere, as long as it is dark enough for the eggs to glow.
About this material
The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure is a 40 page softcover, colorful book that sends children on a treasure hunt through time. Three kids and their dog search for clues that will lead them to each glowing egg. Inside each egg will be one scripture scroll that is a clue to help lead them to each egg. Along the journey hunting for the eggs they will learn about the true meaning of Easter and how Jesus is the greatest treasure of all. This program is grat for churches, schools, family or other ministry groups that are looking for a great Easter Idea, object lesson, game or Easter extravaganza. The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Program Guide, available by download, and is a 60 page guide that teaches step by step instructions, decorating tips, story ideas, devotions, recipes, egg hunt guidelines, activity pages and more.
Our thoughtsWhen we first got this in the mail, my kids could not wait to use it. One being the glow in the dark eggs. Matter of fact the eggs were taken out of their box and immediately placed under the light for a hurried glow. Although we were not quite ready to use them just yet, my kids were ready to go sit in dark room and play with the eggs. :) --- I enjoyed hearing their giggles and their own child versions of Easter. ---
When we were ready to begin our fun we started out with the book which we read aloud the first time and listened to the audio the second time.Yes, we played with these eggs more then once, my kids could not get enough. We reviewed the program guide, however we did not use all of it, just yet! I'm not ashamed to admit, after we did this the first time through, I ordered and additional bag of the regular glow in the dark eggs so we could add more eggs to our fun. (plus it also allows for extra eggs to use in a larger group other then our family, thinking ahead here.)
As I mentioned above, to those who are concerned about the mixing of eggs with the true meaning of Easter, I honestly believe this is a great way of learning or introducing the true Easter meaning in a fun and hands on way. I dont think you would have any concerns here. I am a firm believer that kids learn better when they use hands on material and lessons. This material would be great for object lessons, scavenger hunts and hands on fun. We truly enjoyed ourself hunting the scriptures and the 12 well lit eggs. Amidst all of the fun the best part was the children hunting and learning, memorizing the scripture as well as learning the story of Easter. *LIKE* We will definitely recommend using Egglo Entertainment.
